A Listening Ear Dumfries and Galloway
A Listening Ear offers volunteer-led befriending to people, 18 or over, experiencing loneliness and isolation, helping them to feel socially connected in a positive way. Our trained volunteers provide high-quality befriending and signposting services on issues such as health, housing, and benefits with referrals to other appropriate agencies when required. Most of all, our volunteers provide a listening ear across Dumfries and Galloway to anyone who simply needs someone to talk with, providing emotional support over the phone and online. We are now extending our project to include face-to-face meetings individually, socially and in care homes.
No One Dies Alone (NODA) – Providing Comfort and Companionship
Our dedicated NODA volunteers provide a palliative befriending service to people in the community who have received a terminal diagnosis, offering emotional support, companionship, and a reassuring presence when they need it most.
In addition to supporting individuals in the community, our volunteers also sit with elderly residents in care homes who are actively dying and have no family or friends to be with them in their final moments. This compassionate service ensures that every person receives the dignity, comfort, and human connection they deserve at the end of life.
